Cold Night

So I heard that back home in the North East there is snow. My friend Louissa determined that October + Snow = global warming is a lie.

It was so cold in my room last night that my memory foam forgot how to be squishy. I actually had my mom mail ME a blanket for her birthday. Brrr.

New Vid Tomorrow and I will have some amazing news then.

Hating America is American?

Last night I watched a film about The Boleyn sisters and king Henry the VIII. It reminded me how young this nation of America really is, and how much history the world has. I find it interesting that Americans generally think we have the best way of doing things and how hard we work to "share" these systems with other nations.

I was thinking on the way home about those people who around election time threaten to move to other countries if so and so gets elected or if what and such a law gets passed. Especially now with our "financial crisis" and all. I'm pretty sure I heard some illegal emigrants talking about moving to Ontario.

Seriously though, Americans get offended when other Americans think about moving to other countries to escape laws and legislation they don't like...but isn't that what this Great United States was founded on. (Pause for thought)

At some point a bunch of britts decided they didn't like the Anglican Church, State, and Classes so they got on a boat and peaced out. I'm not saying this is right or wrong, I'm just saying it's in our historical fabric. That's why originally states were set up a more separate entities, so people could choose the system they wanted to live under. It's why States try to succeed from the Nation.

We are a country full of people who are under the impression that they know how to do it best. It's no wonder the rest of the world isn't thrilled with us. How often do we try to go in there and "fix" it without knowing about their culture, practices, and systems.

True change is founded in relationship, and we can not have relationship without learning to relate. But it is our fear of being changed that prohibits the relationship upon which change must be built.

A response to the Donald Miller Backlash

http://burnsidewriterscollective.blogspot.com/2008/09/interview-with-donald-miller.html

I am my mothers third son but her only child. She had two abortions before me. God has, over the last 24 years brought her to a place of freedom and healing. And now she speaks in churches and gatherings all over, sharing her testimony and counseling to post abortive women and families. 24 years it took her to overcome the emotional wounds left by her actions, 24 years many facets of her life were altered, social interactions, ministry, her walk with God all hindered.

Bryan Catherman said,"So ultimately, if Christians wish to see Roe overturned, we need to press on our elected politicians more. We need not to "overturn" Roe v. Wade, but instead find a way to give a voice to the unborn. We can no longer afford to simply be okay with the misguided judicial appointment rhetoric." which was part of a very well written response regarding the actual legal process that would need to occur for RVW to be overturned.

At the end of the day I am very much pro-life, I am also an unvoiced libertarian. I do believe in the holistic sanctity of the entire life. I do believe no one issue can determine my political choices. I do believe that the government SHOULD NOT BE the primary conduit for anti-abortive action to flow. The legislative probability of an overturn is low.

It is my opinion, that it is the family that is the church's responsibility to be a loving arm in the community, to prove themselves an aid to pregnant and post abortive women. To be the fulcrum on which true change occurs. One life, one woman, one baby at time. The greatest commandment Love God, love others. Change can happen but it is us as the embodiment of Jesus who will usher that change.
