The Importance of being Furnished

When I moved to Nashville the ad said the house was furnished, this however did not include the bedroom. I made an assumption based on my regional experience that furnished meant "fully furnished".

I wasn't really upset, I couldn't be not for my own assumption, this is where thinking ahead, double checking, and being proactive comes into play. I've been free-lancing for a production company and the key for my prolonged stay has been just that.

It's that critical thinking that would have kept me off the floor for the first three weeks in Nashville. It can be tough to gauge the intelligence of your audience but it seems that assuming your audience is stupid is frustrating in the long tail.

The best option is to not assume the audience is stupid but rather to set the options out and think ahead for them. Make it simple but not stupid. "Furnish it for them." It's the value menu way. Point out the price breaks make some "combos" they feel intellegent you don't have a headache. It is how they say win win.
