Be Ye of a Song Mind...

"Song Mind", not to be confused with Sun-Ming who is an exchange student from Korea.

I was sitting at the table witth a good friend of mine eating pancakes when I noticed a pattern in conversational behavior. A sentence would be orated followed by one or both of us breaking into song. Usually the songs come in clips and phrases and the selection was typically a throwback to the 80's or early 90's. There were a couple of times that songs lead to other songs back and fourth three of four times before the conversation woiuld be re-established.

What are you up to later?
I'm probably going to study at the library for a little bit.
"who just a little bit, who just a little bit (RESPECT Aretha Franklin)
How about you what are you going to do.
Well I'd like to sleep all day but...
"We don't sleep at all then we sleep all day..." (Jason Mraz)

and so on;

I thought to myself and stated to my friend, "What do normal people think about?" She said, "You mean when their sitting in class and the lecture is so boaring you have no choice but to put your self into a uphoric comma just to deal with the furrociously mundane phenomina that we call education? (or something like that)
"Yeah"
"I dunno"
"Excuse me waitress" I said, "Are you a student?"
No
Have you ever been
Yes
When you got bored in class, where did your mind go?
To what I was going to do after class, I guess. You know or plan the weekend or the afternoon or something.
Thank you so much, and could I get some more coffe when you get a sec.

You see people like my friend and I don't need I-pods and mp3 players, our heads have a never ending audio feed. Its' like having a juke box between your cerebellum and your temporal lobes. When the juke box is broken a miniature Girshwin takes over (I was going to say John Williams but Gershy was Jewish) and I start composing some great syncapated masterpiece. NORMAL people on the other hand, plan. What an amazing concept, planning, maybe I'll try it out some time. Untill next time I guess I will say goodbye...
Goo hood bye ah i he a hy (jars of clay)

What song is going through your head right now?

Your not alone J.. I've got one of those radio stations in my head too. Except mine has a dj and he doesn't always play stuff that I like, but most of the time he does, though. Hey, man, that whole music craze thing is a blessing...and a sickness, but who wants to be normal, I mean really.

A guy who went on TR with Daniel and I back in '99 is considering attending Lee University next fall. He has some questions, so I told him that I knew some spirit-filled believers attending it. He would love to get in touch with you and get some thoughts if you have a chance, so he gave me his info to pass on to you and Lore.

It is: (678)371-8159, matthewsvaldes@gmail.com, on the facebook he goes by Stephen Valdes

I know you don't have a lot of spare time, but if you get a chance to zip him an e-mail so he can then e-mail you back, he would really appreciate it.

P.S. I'm glad you came to our house while you were here. Even though we never "lived" in the NC at the same time, you belong here in my mind and it's just not the same... Come home soon, J!
